Avalanche Popcorn Bowl

I have literally nothing to report in Colorado Avalanche news. Nothing. SO: I decided to do a little Avalanche online shopping! I found this super cool Avalanche popcorn tub and bowl set that are so perfect for movie night. It comes with one large bucket and two bowls and can be used inside or outside. It would also be perfect at your next barbeque for some chips and salsa or potato chips and dip, or the next time you plan a movie night at home! Nothing as exciting as a great addition to the Avalanche roster, but still something to add a little Avs to your summertime food plans!

Google Images for Colorado Avalanche Roster

Since I need something fun to distract myself from the terrible end to the 2011-12 Avalanche season. So today I googled "Colorado Avalanche Roster" just to see the top five images that came up. And here's what we got:
From left to right, here's what these photos depict:

1. The burgundy/white scrimmage rosters from the beginning of the 2011 season.
2. A fight between Chris Thorburn of the Winnipeg Jets roster and Cody McLeod of the Colorado Avalanche roster.
3. Gabriel Landeskog - the Av's first round, second overall pick from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft
4. Tyson Barrie suited up for a pre-season game last fall
5. A screen shot of a goal at the 12/13/11 game.

I always find it interested to see what comes up when you search for the Avs. Sometimes there are some good links, sometimes they're weird and sometimes they make no sense at all...

Joe Sacco staying on the Avalanche roster

Well, despite the disappointing end to the season the team has decided to keep coach Joe Sacco on the Avalanche roster as the head coach. Some of you might think that this is surprising news. Let me explain to you why it's actually not that surprising and why the team SHOULD be keeping their current head coach in place:

1. The Avalanche barely missed making the NHL playoffs. They were playing alright, they just weren't totally up to par - or up to where we all would have liked them to be as fans. And that whole not-making-the-playoffs thing had more to do with a team that was plagued with injuries as opposed to a team that had a bad coach.

2. Sacco has a proven track record. He's taken this team to the playoffs before. He's taken them past the first round of the playoffs before. So there's definitely room for improvement with the team this year and definitely the tracks set in place to make it to the playoffs in the future.

3. The last thing this team needs is to have the management roster shaken up. How often does a team with a new coach actually make it to the first round of the NHL Playoffs? That's right, you can probably count them on one hand. Shaking up the system means these guys will have to get used to a new guy in charge, a new coaching style, a new playing style - which means a year of adjustment.

Goodbye Avs. Hello NHL Playoff Tickets.

Things I know about the Colorado Avalanche:

1. They left us with quite a disappointing end to the season.
2. Next season better lead to a solid playoff run.
3. I still love them with all my heart.

Which is why I decided to renew my season of Avalanche tickets for next year. And why I'll continue cheering them on for every game. And I can't WAIT until the NHL Entry Draft in June.

Until then, I have to say that I will just wallow in disappointment while I watch all of the games on the NHL Playoffs schedule and wish that I were watching the Avs beat out every East Coast team. Damn.

Avalanche Roster Struts The Runway

I think we need a little Avalanche pick me up this week. Something not related to stats or their position within the league. Like their 2012 Charity Brunch and Fashion Show for Children's Hospital in Colorado. I think you will really enjoy checking out the Avalanche roster as they strut their stuff! Happy Monday!

Colorado Avalanche Playoff Potential?

The question that is burning in every Colorado Avalanche fan's mind: will they or won't they make the NHL playoffs? Well, they're on the brink. They still could make it. But they did lose last night to the San Jose Sharks, giving the Sharks the 1st place spot in their division. Annnd they didn't just lose. They lost 5-1. Basically: if they keep up this kind of play, there's not going to be any playoff action on the Avalanche schedule. Which makes me the teeeeeniest  bit sad. Which means I need something new to keep on cheering for my team! So I found this awesome Avs tank, perfect for a little warmer weather. It's dusted with Swarovski Crystals and just adorable. It's a little pricey for $55, but hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. And I NEED this shirt. Ciao!

Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche Roster

Time to take a little peak at all of those Colorado Avalanche Roster Men that we cheer for from the stands! This week we're centering around Matt Duchene, center for the Avs. Duchene is originally from Ontario, Canada and was born in 1991, making him 21 years old. He was drafted third overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. He was ranked just as high by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau while playing juniors for the Central ontario Wolves. His 100th career point was recorded in January of 2011 with a goal scored against the Phoenix Coyotes, making him the youngest player in Avalanche franchise history to garner that many points at such a young point in his career. We see great things on the horizon for this adorable hockey center!
